Frequently asked about the Finance

What is a finance calculator?

A finance calculator is any tool that computes money-related outcomes — loan EMIs, SIP returns, compound growth, taxes, retirement corpus, etc. CalcMaster's Finance category has 68 calculators covering loans, investments, taxes, business math, and personal finance, all free and instant.

Which finance calculator should I use?

Start with your question: 'What will I get back?' → SIP, Lumpsum, Compound Interest. 'What will I pay?' → EMI, Mortgage, Credit Card Payoff. 'Am I on track?' → Retirement Planner, Net Worth, DTI Ratio. The category page lists all 68 — search by name in the global ⌘K palette to jump straight to one.

Are finance formulas the same worldwide?

The pure math is — compound interest, IRR, NPV, EMI all use universal formulas. Tax slabs, retirement schemes (401K, NPS, PPF), and tenure norms differ by country. For India-specific products like PPF, NPS, EPF, SSY, GST, HRA, use the Finance (India) category which has 24 dedicated calculators.

Can I trust these for real decisions?

The math is correct and sourced from standard public formulas. For decisions involving real money, taxes, or legal commitments, always cross-check with a qualified financial advisor or CA. CalcMaster is an educational tool, not advisory.

Do you account for taxes?

Most calculators output gross numbers. The Income Tax calculator computes tax under both old and new Indian regimes. For other calcs, mentally subtract the tax applicable to your situation (e.g. ~12.5% LTCG above ₹1.25 L for equity, slab rate for debt-fund gains).

Are the rates and slabs up to date?

We use the latest published rates: PPF 7.1%, EPF 8.15% (FY 2024-25), SSY 8.2%, NPS market-linked, new-regime income-tax slabs as per FY 2024-25 Budget. Banks may quote slightly different FD/loan rates; type the rate your bank gave you for an exact answer.

Can I download or print the results?

Every calculator page supports browser-print (Ctrl/Cmd + P) — the print CSS hides nav and shows just the calculator + result + (where applicable) amortization schedule. PDF/CSV export is on the roadmap.

How do I share a calculation with someone?

Click the share icon next to the result — uses your device's native share sheet on mobile, copies the URL on desktop. Shareable pre-filled URLs (encoding the inputs) are being added across all calculators.
